So, it's always a good time and I can't wait for this year's pig pickin'! I'll be posting little tidbits about the pig pickin' as I begin to get things ready.

Time for a North Carolina Tradition
Since my husband and I bought our house 2 1/2 years ago we've made it a tradition to have a pig pickin' every spring. It's now time for us to work on our 3rd annul pig pickin'. For those of you who don't know what a pig pickin' is, read here, it's a southern tradition. My husband and I prefer a good eastern NC style BBQ sauce that he makes himself. We both really enjoy having the pig pickin' every year, it's a great time to spend with friends and family. It's such a fun day and you never know what will happen. For instance, at our first pig pickin' things were starting to wind down, the women were inside chatting and the men still outside drinking. All of a sudden I see something fly into the living room and then out. It didn't really hit me at first until a few minutes later I realize what's happening as the BAT, yes a bat, flies back into the living room! So, of course all the women start screaming...just picture some of us grabbing our 'babies' {babies=our dogs} and diving under the dinning room table...it was quite a site! The boys {notice I put boys and not men this time, they had been drinking since 8am} hear use screaming and come charging into the house. One of them leaves the door wide open cutting off the bat's path in and out of the living room. You would think this would be good, except that the bat flies upstairs! Now, picture 5 boys, who have been drinking since 8am, all running up the stairs after the bat...another site to see. They finally managed to knock the bat out with a baseball hat and carry him out.
